Weird Wacky World Wide Web

This afternoon I began to look for the website of a Vancouver, Washington newspaper to resume some research for an article I’ve agreed to write. Since there is no deadline for this piece, I’ve been procrastinating in the way of a lazy writer. AOL search couldn’t locate the paper’s website, but directed me to two other websites which referred to it. Reading their descriptions led me to believe I could reach the site I wanted from either of those locations.

I clicked on the first one and found myself in Ann Rule’s guest book, with letters from all over the world dated in August and September 2003. Naturally, I couldn’t ignore such tempting tidbits. Only one letter found fault with her. The writer thought she should be doing something to prevent horrible crimes, rather than reporting on them. A few offered information about murders that she could use for books. Most were highly complimentary.

After reading somewhere between 25 to 50 letters, I decided I had to see the rest of her website. So I spent more time and learned that her next book, due to be out very soon, will be about the Green River murders. She had to wait a long time for that case to be solved so she could write the book.

Anyway, back to my research (hours later). I still haven’t found that newspaper website. I can’t wait to see where the weird wacky web takes me next trip.
