Giving Thanks

Among the many things I have to be thankful for are, of course, first and foremost my family--children, sisters, cousins, and a few remaining aunts and uncles. A loving companion to celebrate holidays and ordinary days with is another person for whom I am thankful.

I also appreciate having a warm, dry and comfortable place to live, recreational facilities including the oft-mentioned and used indoor pool, and enough income so that a portion of it is disposable.

At my age, I have lost a good number of my friends, but the ones I have left are dear to me.

My health, while not perfect, is better than I might expect at my age, and I’m certainly grateful for it and for the health care I can still afford. I’m particularly thankful that my mind is clear enough that I can write and participate in other activities that require a degree of mental agility.

And, although I’m not always proud to be an American, I am eternally grateful that I was born in this country.
