Christmas PreparationToday a friend delivered a perfectly shaped four-foot Christmas tree for us. We will keep it on the balcony for a week or two before bringing it inside so it won’t dry up so much. The stand I bought does have a one-gallon reservoir for water, but our electric heat will probably dry a tree pretty fast anyway. Several years ago I gave away all my decorations and I don’t want to accumulate a lot more stuff, so I think the tree trimmings will be minimal. She also brought us about a half dozen oak logs for a Yuletide fire. We haven’t had a real wood fire in this fireplace yet and I’m looking forward to that.
I feel a little odd thinking about Christmas just after Thanksgiving, but I guess it’s better than the stores that now start before Halloween. They are playing Christmas music already. I’m glad I’m not working where I have to listen to it for a month. Most of that music has good memories for me, and I think hearing it over and over would spoil them.
