Thanksgiving WeekendWe had a lovely afternoon enjoying a traditional Thanksgiving dinner at Al?s sister?s house. I ate a large plate of food and skipped the pie, but came home and had some ice cream instead. There were just six of us at the table, which made conversation very pleasant. Just eating someone else?s cooking is always a treat. It is especially delightful when so many family recipes and sometimes a new recipe or two are lovingly prepared. Because Al?s sister is considerably younger than he, and her daughter and friend were part of the group, we were multi-generational, but all adults. None of Al?s grandchildren were able to be with us. Neither his sister nor I have grandchildren, so there were no little ones to distract or entertain us. We will have a larger group here on Saturday, possibly much larger. I won?t know until the last minute. My depression era childhood will stand me in good stead I hope. Just throw a few more potatoes in the pot and double a couple of recipes, and all should be well. I?m looking forward to having a houseful of wonderful relatives.
Now I?d better go do some exercises before bedtime to work off a few calories.
