Countdown to CruisingIt seems as if the occasions when I get in the mood for organizing, filing, etc. occur rarely these days, but today was one of them. I filed a stack of paid bills and other miscellaneous minutiae and organized the paperwork for the cruise. Some I put into folders to go in the bottom of my bag in case we need to refer to them. The ones we need to carry with us, I’ll make copies of, in case they are misplaced. It really helps to have copies of passports, credit cards, plane tickets, etc. if the originals disappear. My body has an annoying habit of punishing me when I fall off the nutrition wagon and eat foolishly. Tonight I lost my appetite for dinner after eating a huge slice of chocolate cake earlier in the day. I felt queasy, so had a piece of toast and two or three crackers until my stomach settled. Then I was able to eat a little bit of real food. We have had dinners out on three of the last five days. We were given gift certificates to two nearby restaurants for Christmas, so we used some of those, and were treated last night by one of Floyd’s daughters whose two children came along with her. Their husband and father is in Europe on business. My critique group on Tuesday was very helpful with my poem and I expect to be able to whip it into shape as soon as I get a couple of free hours to work on it. At the pain clinic, a physical therapist gave us a lot of tips on proper posture and movements for minimizing strain on joints and painful parts. She demonstrated sitting, rising, getting in and out of bed, sleeping positions, etc. I’m learning helpful information if I can just remember it all. My genealogist sister in California learned this week that an aunt of ours passed away in late November of last year. She was 100 years old, but unfortunately had suffered dementia for a good number of years. She was an aunt by marriage, so we don’t have her long-life genes.
We leave for our cruise a week from tomorrow, but who’s counting?
