Acronyms, etc.

I’m thinking of starting a Society for the Elimination of Acronyms (SEA). Now that text messaging is threatening to destroy the English language, as we know it, I think it is time to take action. Comments, anyone?

Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, I need to share how I wasted a hunk of my day relearning a simple skill for the third time, at least. When I got my flash drive, I learned how to copy material to transfer from one computer to another since my hardware is aged and does not cotton to networking. I perform these operations so seldom that, each time, I have to study the instructions.

My travel logs from this last cruise are, of course, on my notebook computer and will be easier to edit, add pictures, and distribute from my desktop. This evening I managed to get them on the little wafer with the bright blue light that will carry them into the other room and transfuse them. Maybe, before bedtime, I can actually get the articles transferred.

I am so far behind state-of-the-art in computer land, that I can barely converse with my son and son-in-law on any of these matters any more. It’s probably not a good use of my limited time to get up-to-date as long as I can still manage, even with difficulty, to do the things I need to on my ancient equipment.

Speaking of ancient equipment, I took my body to the pool and spa before dinner to do my thing. It makes me feel noble, as well as rejuvenated, to do so. But it definitely didn’t help me prepare a better dinner. I could barely eat it myself but, fortunately, Floyd is very tactful. He never refuses when I suggest that we eat out, either.

Last night I was exhausted after back-to-back writers’ critique group and pain management clinic, so we ate at our local Shari’s. That and the local all-you-can-eat buffet are our two best choices, but either tempts us to eat injudiciously. Oh well!
