Happy St. Patrick’s DaySt. Patrick’s day is here and a little green is beginning to show on some of the naked tree branches. The blossoming trees are sensational in pink, yellow and white. The white camellia outside the dining room window is heavy with blooms; the pink one out by the front door is not so profusely covered. If I hadn’t given away all my garden tools, I might prune it. Camellias like air, and it is too densely leafed to bloom much. Maybe my garden-loving neighbors might like to do the job, if I drop a hint. They love to dig around and chop away in warmer weather. Now that I’m retired and supposedly have more time than when I was working, I usually research carefully before I make a major purchase. My desktop computer is in a terminal stage and I can only hope it will hold out until I feel more comfortable with a Vista operating system on a replacement. Yesterday, I realized that I’ll probably want to upgrade my notebook to Vista at that time, so I ran a cute little software program Windows is pushing to allegedly point out any problems that might exist with such a change. After pointing out that my notebook needs more memory (easy to fix), the long list of possible hitches was pretty discouraging. The interesting part is that many of the software programs and some of the hardware items that may need adjustments are Microsoft products. Go figure. That sneaky Bill Gates and his cohorts want to drive us all crazy. And his mother was such a sweet girl in high school. Anyway, my work is cut out for me. I need to clean up, back up, and fix up this hardware in order to upgrade it. I will also have to seriously weed out unnecessary files on my old one and get the rest in shape to be moved into a new home.
I did a little Spring-cleaning around the apartment today. I need to do a lot on these computers. At least I won’t mind rainy days so much while I’m working on those projects.
