WanderlustAs much as I love the place where I’m living, in retrospect, I think it was a bit dumb to move to a part of the metropolitan area with which I’m totally unfamiliar this late in my life. As a result, I spend a lot of time driving around, often in heavy traffic, trying to read poorly placed or non-existent street signs. Today, I spent over an hour on a dry run to the facility where I will have a bone density scan tomorrow morning. When I finally got there, I’d made so many u-turns, I have no idea how I made it. In the morning, I plan to leave more than an hour early to give myself time to do it again. I will see if Mapquest can come up with a better map and directions than what I was sent by the facility. One of the worst things about this area is the proclivity to name streets differently on either side of a major arterial. A right turn puts you on a street with one name, a left turn on that street has a different name. Years ago I went to a party and met a highway engineer. He was such a nut that I decided some of the road and highway design problems no doubt originated with him and his cohorts. Anyway, my wanderlust does not extend to searching for street signs and building numbers or identifying nameplates. I’m baffled by the number of hits my website host is reporting on my travel logs. I wonder if there’s a glitch in the counting mechanism. It looks as if a lot more people look at those than go to the website or the blog and I can’t figure that out. My webmaster is super busy redesigning his own website, so I don’t want to bother him for the next few days.
Today was cold and breezy outside. I hope we warm up for the spring and summer season soon. My joints don’t do cold well, but they loved the pool and hot tub this afternoon.
