The Daily Poem...

Sonnet for Single Seniors

As I write, my brain must ponder
where it is that I shall squander
the raise Uncle gave me this year.
“Doing the math” causes some fear.

Part B Medicare—up several bucks
PERS health care premium, oh shucks!
That’s been raised another umpteen plus,
leaving just a teeny raise for us.

Now I must choose how I will use
such largesse—shall I get some booze?
Alas, I must decide between gas
or groceries or medicine.
I know I’m not the only one
with this problem, where’s the fun?
