Hawaii Cruise

On Thursday, February 18th, 2009, Floyd’s daughter Marcia kindly drove us to the Portland Airport, where, for a very small fee, we checked our luggage and received our boarding passes curbside, no waiting. Our flight to San Diego left and arrived on time. My sister Margaret and brother-in-law Marvin picked us up at the airport and we all had lunch… . . . click here to continue

Maui—October 2007

Early Wednesday morning, October 17, 2007, we left Floyd’s Buick on Northeast Columbia Boulevard, at his family business. One of the employees drove us the short distance to the airport and took the car back to leave it there while we’re gone. Hawaiian Airlines moved us efficiently through check-in. Going through Security, the zipper on my inner jacket (I… . . . click here to continue

Midnight Flight

Too late Floyd and I learned that the Caribbean cruise we had booked, left from Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Super Bowl weekend. So, rather than take a chance on being lodged hundreds of miles away or paying $300 plus for a room for one night, we decided to take a redeye Continental flight and left Portland at 12:30 a.m.,… . . . click here to continue

First Day at Sea - Sunday

Monday - Second Day at Sea

Unlike Sunday, Monday morning we awoke in time for breakfast and enjoyed a few of the great variety of foods available. Ripe melons, along with a huge assortment of breads and pastries, cereal, eggs, bacon, sausage and other usual breakfast foods, were available.

After breakfast, we went to the library and Internet Cafe’, which are combined. Floyd worked… . . . click here to continue

Tuesday- -Kralendijk, Bonair

We awoke at 9:00 a.m. to hear the captain announce that we were docking on the island of Bonaire. Before we could even dress for breakfast, the ship was secured. After breakfast, we walked on deck in a warm, light rain.  We sat for a while and viewed the village where we are docked.

This island was, and still… . . . click here to continue

Wednesday—Willlemstad, Curacao

We docked in port at Willemstad around 2:30 a.m. We had been warned last evening about the noise the thrusters maneuvering the ship into the dock would make. We were not sleeping well anyway, since Floyd seems to be getting a cold. Our cabin has never been comfortably warm without bundling up in sweaters or robes and blankets. Heavy robes… . . . click here to continue
