Ship Ahoy - Part Four

Very early Saturday morning the Dawn Princess anchored in the waters near Cabo San Lucas. Since we had been there twice before, we hadn’t purchased a shore excursion. We went ashore later in the morning by tender. The dock where the tender took us looked totally unfamiliar, as did the surroundings. At least six vendors offering transportation into town crowded… . . . click here to continue

Whirlwind Trip Through California

In late summer, Al bought a 2005 Ford Focus Station Wagon. We took it on a one-day trip to the Oregon coast. Because we had a flight to London with a European cruise already scheduled in late August, we didn’t get to ride around in the Ford very much until early October, when we took a trip to California.

Atlantic Crossing

After leaving Scotland, Sunday August 28th, our first day at sea, was uneventful. At least I can’t remember much. We may have slept through most of the day. I know we were exhausted. Our tour guide had a heavy brogue, but I understood… . . . click here to continue

At Sea-Dublin August 24-25, 2005

On Wednesday, August 24th, our first full day at sea, I learned how crowded even a big ship can be with 2600 passengers and about half that many crew members on board. I was inclined to search for quiet corners and relax in our cabin with a good book. I continued reading into the evening, while Al went to… . . . click here to continue

Travel - Le Havre/Paris August 23, 2005

Monday night the Golden Princess, according to the Captain’s Log, passed through the Dover Straits, one of the busiest waterways in the world, and entered the English Channel. It continued on westerly courses through the early hours of Tuesday morning before altering onto a Southerly course towards the Bay Of Seine, arriving at Le Havre around 8:00 a.m.
